After a break-in, Jason was the insurance adjuster on our theft claim. It was an awful experience. He was skeptical about everything we reported stolen, and we felt almost accused instead of helped. It took weeks for him to respond, and when he did, the settlement offered was insultingly low – not even enough to replace the window that was broken, let alone the valuables stolen. We provided proof of ownership and police reports, but he still dragged his feet. The lack of empathy and the stingy payout left us feeling victimized twice – by the thieves and then by the insurer.
Our upstairs bathroom overflowed and caused water damage in the kitchen ceiling. Jason was assigned to our claim. He did eventually get some of the repairs covered, but it felt like he was always looking for reasons to exclude things. He initially refused to cover repainting the entire ceiling, which would have left a patchwork look. We had to argue that point. The claim was partially paid, but not without a fight on details. It was an exhausting process for a fairly common water damage event.
I'm a fire restoration contractor and worked with Jason Miller on a home fire claim. Unfortunately, Jason was one of the toughest adjusters I've met. He questioned every repair line-item and initially left out necessary smoke damage cleaning. We had to involve the homeowner's public adjuster to get a reasonable scope approved. From a contractor's standpoint, his approach made the job far more difficult than it should have been.
Jason Miller was the adjuster for our water damage claim, and it was a mixed bag. Our washing machine hose burst and caused damage to two rooms. Jason acknowledged the damage but tried to depreciate a lot of the materials. After some negotiations, we got a partial payout – better than nothing, but not full coverage. I'd describe the experience as frustrating but somewhat resolved in the end.
